Kīlauea is home to Pele, the revered Hawaiian volcano goddess. Destructive and creative by nature, she is unpredictable and impulsive. Like the glowing rivers of molten lava that Pele sends down the mountain, this fragrance is hot, fiery, and demands your attention.

With sharp opening notes of Lemon Rind, Star Anise, and Black Pepper, this exceptionally well-crafted fragrance is balanced with spicy and earthy notes of Crushed Clove and Cinnamon Bark, Patchouli and Creamy Sandalwood.

Ceramic Vessel & Wood Box

Kīlauea comes in a ceramic vessel inspired by pāhoehoe, the vast black fields of hardened lava found on the Big Island of Hawaii. Each Kīlauea vessel is etched by hand while the clay is still wet, using a technique called ‘tobikana,’ and finished with a matte-black natural glaze.

Every Miza candle arrives in an elegant wood box crafted from Paulownia, a fast-growing tree native to East Asia. A wood lid is also included to help preserve and protect the candle when not in use.

I’m in heaven

Extraordinary in every aspect. Unpacking the package set the tone of the experience, from its darling little wooden crate to setting eyes on the handmade clay vessel. The bonus is the stick wicks… the snapping and crackling adds to the aromatic senses that keeps me coming back for more. This has become the best part of my evening ritual. Looking forward to experiencing another scent. I’m so very hooked!

I first got the sample pack of all of the scents so I could decide which candle to buy. I loved them all so much - I put them in my closets and carried them in my coat pockets, the smell was so compelling...I chose the Volcano candle. It arrived so beautifully packaged - it makes an incredible gift - much more original than sending Diptyque - but though it is beautifully made, it's the scent that steals the show. It's subtle, natural, intoxicating and evocative, masculine and earthy. I hope MIZA starts to make perfume so I can wear it wherever I go. In the meantime, I'll carry the sample packs with me and savor my candle at home. It comes with a wooden lid but I keep mine uncovered so I can get hints of the fragrance when the candle isn't lit. My favorite perfumes come from Santa Maria Novella if that gives you a good comparison. This transcends that.

This exquisite candle is my favorite in the collection, it has an exceptionally unique scent and comes in a beautifully-made container. It is a joy to have in my home, reminding me of my love for Hawai'i and it's people. Pele, the goddess of volcanoes would be proud!
